Firework Workshop with Mr Ferguson

A huge thanks to all of the adults who gave up their morning to help and to the Roselyon children who were so enthusiastic.  We had a great time making fuses, detonators and black powder and I was delighted when our home made explosives launched the rockets skyward.

Making the electronic detonators

Tom -using a pestle and mortar to grind the chemicals. Tom’s dad then mixed these together -a safe distance away from the children. Mrs Mann dried up the fuses in the oven.

Below-detonating the fireworks. Note that the fuses ignited rather too quickly!

A huge thanks to Dan and his mum for setting up the coke and menthos experiment.
